Blogger Recognition Award

Thank you so much to The YA Page for nominating me for this award! This is my first blog award ever so I’m super flattered and really excited about this honor!

The rules for the award are:

  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.
  • Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers.
  • Provide a link to the original post on Edge of Night. That way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing!

About Me

I started blogging so I could share my daily life with my family who lives across the U.S. Over time, I began sharing my writing (poetry and short stories) and now the blog has evolved to include my love for books. I’m writing my first YA Fantasy book I love being a part of the book blogging community because it gives me a valuable perspective of what readers like and don’t like. Sometimes I think that I feel a deeper connection to readers because I am a writer; because part of the reason that I write is to be able to share it with others.

One of my biggest dreams is to be able to announce to the community of book bloggers whom I love and adore, that I finally did it, that I finally published a book and would they do me the honor of reviewing my book as well.

Blog Advice

  1. Write what you love to write about. We all have that one true passion or even a handful of passions. Write about that! That is the perspective that needs to be seen in the blogosphere because it is uniquely yours. Give your audience the real you, the unfiltered you, the you that no one else really gets to see, show us your voice in your writing. We’ll love you for your honesty and authenticity, I promise.
  2. It’s never too late to re-brand. I started off blogging about a whole bunch of stuff and it was really confusing to my audience. They didn’t know what to expect of me. To top that off, I wasn’t writing about my passion and that showed in my writing. So select your niche and go all the way with it. Give your readers what they expect from your blog and be transparent about what you’re going to blog about when you do re-brand.

      1. A very VERY long time since we spoken for sure! I’ve been alright, You? everything going well?

Awards bring blogs together and allows everyone a chance to mingle, cheers again! 🙂

      2. I’ve had several highs and lows, tbh! Things in certain aspects of my life are going great while others could def be better. But overall, I’m happy. My kids are doing great and though they’re still a little sick from this bug that is going around the Albany area, I’m relieved that they are finally getting better. The book writing thing has so many highs and lows, right now I’m in a “I hate my story” phase so I’m avoiding it until I’m in a better mindset, lol! 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to connecting with you more, I love blogging because of that mingling aspect, it makes blogging so much fun!

      3. I hope that your little ones are feeling much better by the time you read this, Keep them well hydrated and especially you, it sounds like quite the bug.

Feel free to send me a message on my FB or even on twitter anytime you wish 🙂 Cheers Nicolette 🙂

  1. I love your advices, Nicolette, finding my niche is definitely something that I sometimes still struggle to do – I want to write about more than books but I’m scared of scaring off my followers. Anyway, congrats on the nomination, thoroughly deserved!

    1. I love your blog so much Aentee, and I feel like you have a super strong follower base, so if you want to add something else to the mix, I say go for it. Write a post that you’re adding something new to your variety of posts and include that in your bio and there you have it! I’d love to see what else you have to say beyond books! 🙂
And thank you, you’re so kind!

  2. “Write what you love to write about.”So true! I think this is what excites me about blogging. I love integrating my knowledge of sociology/psychology into my reviews – where appropriate – because I love talking about that stuff and I also like engaging people in that stuff but through a more lighthearted avenue.

I also realized that people enjoy reading positive reviews slightly more than negative reviews (unless the book is generally well-liked, then it’s a point of discussion). And I enjoy reading good books more than bad books (obviously) too. c:

    1. I love discussion too and enjoy fangirling over my favorite book/character. I wish I got to do it more often! Lol 🙂 Your reviews are so thorough, I love them. I requested Gambit from netgalley based off your review bc I too prefer books that I really want to read and everything about Gambit seemed super interesting!

      1. HAHA yes me too! Aw, thank you! ❤ I enjoyed your review of Prodigy; I've read The Young Elites, and have yet to tackle the Legend series… but it sounds interesting. c:

Ahhh I hope you get it! It's suuuper awesome. Idk, something about it really struck me. I hope you enjoy it when you read it. ❤
