“Confessions of a Writer” A Writer’s Tag

Confessions-of-a-Writer

Hello bookish and writerly friends!

Today I am sharing with you a new tag that I decided to create. It’s called The Confessions of a Writer Tag.

I got the idea for this tag from noticing that some of the book bloggers I follow are also aspiring authors. I also noticed that I rarely (if ever) get to see any updates on what these people are working on or what inspires them, etc. So I wanted to create a tag that would highlight the aspects of being a writer that don’t typically get explored in other book blogging tags. However, I also follow a lot of writers who do share their writing on a consistent basis, and though I’ve been following many of them for a while, I realized that I don’t know them as well as I’d like.

The Confessions of a Writer Tag is a ‘get-to-know’ the writer interview. It is an opportunity to showcase the person you either openly share with us all the time or the person we rarely get to see. In any case, my hopes for this tag are that it is a way to connect to other writers across the blogosphere, to share our experiences, and support each other through the creative process.

Here is a little blurb of what this tag is about:

The Confessions of a Writer Tag was created by aspiring author Nicolette Elzie. It’s a ‘get-to-know’ the writer interview tag, dedicated to spotlighting the creative process, works in progress, and connecting to other writers.

Here’s the button too if you’d like it:

How to Participate:

  • Link back to this post, so that the original rules are always accessible to anyone who is curious and wants to participate!
  • Acknowledge the person who tagged you in your post.
  • Tag your friends and fellow writers – it’s up to you how many!

The Questions:

  1. When did you first start writing? Was being a writer something you always aspired to be?
  2. What genre do you write?
  3. Can you tell us a little about your current work in progress? When did you start working on this project?
  4. What was your first piece that you can remember writing? What was it about?
  5. What’s the best part about writing?
  6. What’s the worst part about writing?
  7. What’s the name of your favorite character and why? (This can be from a book by another author or from your own work. Book crushes are perfectly acceptable here as well.)
  8. How much time a day/week do you get to write? When is the best time for you to write (morning or night)?
  9. Did you go to college for writing? Or if you haven’t been to college yet, do you plan to?
  10. What bothers you more: spelling errors, punctuation errors, or grammar errors?
  11. What is the best writing advice that anyone has given you?
  12. What advice would you give to another writer?
  13. What are your favorite writing sites or blogs that you turn to for help, tips or encouragement?
  14. Besides writing, what else do you enjoy doing? What are your hobbies?
  15. What is the best book you’ve read this year?
  16. What is the best movie you’ve seen this year?
  17. What is your favorite book or series of all time?
  18. Who is your favorite author?
  19. What are your plans for the rest of the year in terms of your writing?
  20. Where else can we find you online?

So that’s it everyone, The Confessions of a Writer Tag, an original tag brought to you by yours truly! I hope you like it and will consider participating. However, since this post is very long, I will be doing my own confessions at another time.

  1. Good on you for starting this tag and I hope it takes off! I notice there’s quite a strong writer community on WordPress and in the wider blogosphere and this would be a great way to connect you all 🙂

    1. That is definitely my hope! I have benefited so much from having a supportive writing community to turn to and it started with finding them first. So if I can help other writers find each other then it is my hope that for them those connections can turn into critique partners, beta readers and just a general expansion of someone’s writerly friends overall!

      1. Oops I thought I was late! I’ve been meaning to ask you, where do you get you gifs from and where do you make you collages for your posts?

  2. I love this idea!!! *^_^*
Bree tagged me so I’ll be joining the fun. I’ll probably post this weekend.

Also…the idea to have “Writerly Wednesday” is stellar–you should do it :D. (No pressure haha.)

    1. I’m so glad that you are going to join us!!! And yes, I will definitely be bringing Writerly Wednesday to life. I have plans to introduce it at the beginning of November 🙂 This gives people time to participate in this tag before becoming a part of a weekly feature.

      1. YAY!!!! Awesome!! I can’t wait to read. And I’ve been having trouble brainstorming ideas for Writerly Wednesday, ways to make it unique and keep it going, etc. Do you have any thoughts for it that you’d like to share? OMG, we could co-host it!?!?! Yes? Maybe?

      2. I dunno why it seemingly wouldn’t let me reply to your reply, but hey. This works! We should def co-host!! That would be EPIC. I am about to be late for work if I don’t start getting ready and heading out the door, but I will be back later tonight and hopefully we can email or dm or something and chat about ideas!! *flails*

I flail too much LOL…such is the life of a fangirl hahaha

      1. Thank you, Nicolette. I so loved finding out more about my writer-friends, I think I’m going to tag quite a few folk. A few at the time. What a brilliant idea! 🙂

    1. Thank you Kevin for being a part of this with me! You already know I fangirled over your responses over the weekend! I loved everything you had to say (geez there I go again). Thanks for the share on Twitter, btw! 😍

      1. I won’t finish it today, I’m at work right now but I’ll have it ready for Tuesday. I love answering questions like these, and haven’t had a post like this in a while!
Nothing wrong with being a nerd ^^
