A world of chivalry and witchcraft…and the invaders who would destroy everything.

The North has invaded, bringing a cruel religion and no mercy. The ciudades-estados who have stood in their way have been razed to nothing, and now the horde is before the gates of Colina Hermosa…demanding blood.

On a mission of desperation, a small group escapes the besieged city in search of the one thing that might stem the tide of Northerners: the witches of the southern swamps.

The Women of the Song.

But when tragedy strikes their negotiations, all that is left is a single untried knight and a witch who has never given voice to her power.  And time is running out.

A lyrical tale of honor and magic, Grudging is the opening salvo in the Book of Saints trilogy.

  1. I am going to be honest here. I don’t like the cover… I think it looks a little amateur. >.<
But at least the story sounds super interesting!

You should include that it is also a giveaway in the title. More people will come visit 🙂

    1. I just finished an incredible dystopia idk if it’s your thing but honestly it was unlike most dystopias I’ve read so you might enjoy it. CW @ Read, Think, Ponder first rec’d it and I powered through it, it was so good. It’s called Gambit by CL Denault.
I keep telling myself I’m going to read more contemporary and the ones you rec sound awesome, but I’m such a fantasy girl it’s hard to break out of. I managed to for the Dahlia Moss book and it was awesome so I know I enjoy contemporary but I just keep crawling back to fantasy! Lol 😄 Widening my reading is something high on my to do list though because I know it will make me a better writer, so I know it’s super important, I just need to actually do it.

      1. Oh I remember CW’s Gambit review. It had that absolutely beautiful cover that she recreated. The one with the dagger/sword? (Totally embarrassing if that’s not the one). I think I remember being kind of intrigued so maybe I’ll revisit her review again! But I have so many fantasy books on my physical TBR that I should get some of those out of the way first. Like The Hunger Games. It’s kind of shameful that I haven’t read them yet.

      2. YASSS!!! That’s the one!!! And her recreation was just gorgeous, bc of her review and the cover I was like, yep I’m requesting this for review, and crossed my fingers to get it bc I really wanted it!
Hunger Games can wait, lol, jk, sort of. I’m in the fan girl after glow phase after reading this book so I’m just going to rave nonstop, lol. And don’t feel bad!! Your niche is contemporary! And I love that!

Lol. At least in book blogging it’s not like blasphemy if you haven’t read outside your niche, or at least that’s the way I feel, it’s not a big deal to me. I think because when I went to college and I was practically shunned for not having read the “classics”, what a barbarian I must be, lol!! 😂 My classics were the fantasy giants like Tolkein, Pierce, Lewis and Goodkind, so no way it’s shameful! Lol!

      3. OMG in high school I was such a classics snob. I bought so many of them and was all like “you should read classics” but then I never ended up reading most of them. And now my TBR is mainly made up of books that I bought as a teen that I’m not interested in reading anymore. I’ve thought about unhauling them but because they’re classics, there’ll definitely be a time in my life when I’d want to read them. So they’re just taking up precious shelf space right now.

      4. Lol! I enjoy classics now, sort of had to conform, so I learned to expand what I read. I also learned that there’s always a silver lining! I did love the Great Gatsby, not so much in HS but after college I recognized it for its amazingness!

I have so many classics on my shelf too. Though I know I’ll want to read them at some point, so I keep them around. But they really do take up so much space! 🙈😆
