Welcome back to another Top 10 Tuesday, an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is 10 Wishes I’d Ask The Book Genie To Grant Me.
Now, if only there were an actual genie that could make all my bookish dreams come true. I don’t know, I grew up on Disney so I guess there’s still a part of me that almost believes it could happen. So, just in case, these are the things I’d wish for:
1. Box sets galore!
I would love to have box sets of all my favorite books, but right now, these are my top two picks. I haven’t read the ToG series yet but I have no doubt that I’m going to love it. And the Shatter Me series is my all time fav. Plus these covers are to die for.
2. Meet and collab with my two favorite SCers, Marie Lu and Victoria Aveyard. Fight on!
It really would be awesome to just meet them, but I’d honestly want to know more, like what inspires them, how they approach writing their books, and if they have any tips or words of wisdom for me. And what I think would be just the most amazing thing ever, like “dream come true” status (on top of me being published one day), would be to write a book with both of them.
3. Super fast reading skills
I am such a SLOW reader. Maybe because I savor every line of a book? Really though, I think that’s just what I tell myself to feel better. But I also don’t know how to speed things up without loosing meaning. So, because of my desperate desire to do this:
I really need the genie to help me out. I have too many books that I want to read in THIS lifetime.
4. My dream bookshelf
It’s so beautiful….I wouldn’t mind keeping the dog either. But seriously, I just want a bookshelf that I wouldn’t be embarrassed taking bookish pictures of in the background. My bookshelf is just a hot mess right now, so if the genie wants to help me clean house…
5. Have library holds come through instantly as soon as it’s placed
Because waiting is painful (okay, not really). I love the library, I’d live there if I could. Every time a hold does comes through, I get a text and, I kid you not, I literally skip my way over there because I’m so happy.
6. A reading nook
I don’t know where I’d even put something like this, considering the fact that an adult version would probably be unsightly and really just be an over glorified egg. BUT, if I had a room just for reading, in a my non-existent mansion obviously, then I’d totally go for something like this:
There are more “practical” versions, but they don’t look nearly as comfy. Pretty, but not lounge worthy.
7. All the bookish home decor my little heart desires
I’ve been wanting to flood my apartment with bookish paraphernalia for I don’t even know how long, but I never actually end up doing it. This is mostly because buying any of this stuff is so out of my price range and resolving to make it by hand, while totally possible, is just another time suck that I can’t afford.
8. Some literary style
I see all these tee shirts with book quotes on them, and I think they’re cool and all, but honestly, I’d want to step it up a notch. Some styling bookish threads would be nice.
9. Painless tattoos
Honestly, they don’t have to be painless, if the genie could just make them beautiful and EPIC, that’s all I really want. At some point I’m getting them anyway.
10. Endless supply of Teavanna to go with my bookish mugs
Have you ever tried Teavanna’s Samurai Chai Mate? It’s seriously the bomb! This is the description from their website:
Sweet and spicy infusion of cinnamon and citrus undertones with papaya.
The way of the warrior is strength, skill, fairness, mercy, power, energy and balance. Our chai embodies this spirit with an invigorating green mate and green rooibos blend. Cinnamon, anise and cardamom blend with papaya, pineapple, orange and lemongrass- a combination to face every new day samurai-style.
Who doesn’t need that to tackle their next readathon? I would pair this amazingness with some book nerd mugs to be sure.
