TBR Book Tag

TBR Book Tag-01

Jesse @ Books at Dawn tagged me for this because he knows how much I adore making all sorts of lists. Guys, I’m not even kidding, this is like my thing! I make lists for everything. I even make lists for how I plan to relax, pft, like that’s going to happen…

As much as I love lists, sometimes they stress me out. I feel obligated to do everything on the list. My TBR however is a different sort of list though because I actually WANT to read all these books. The only problem is that I don’t have enough time in my lifetime to read them all! Ah, the tragic problem of every bookworm in the history of ever.

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

I primarily use Goodreads now, but for a while I was keeping track of all these massive booklists by using Pinterest. So really it’s sort of a combo deal. Pinterest if the list is massive and I’m too lazy to add all the books to Goodreads, and Goodreads if I’m adding one book at random.

Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?

I’d say print, but also heavy on the e-ARC too, *cringe*. I keep telling myself I’m going to stop requesting, and then I see another book that LOOKS so good and I hit that request button. I actually need to ban myself from Netgalley.

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

I let my mood take me. I make a list, of course, of the books that I think I will be in the mood for, and then narrow it down from there.

A book that has been on your TBR the longest?

Hmmmmm….Looking at my bookshelf, I’d say Norwegian Wood. But after a convo with CW @ Read, Think, Ponder about this book I am planning to be picking it up in the New Year just so I can discuss with her.

A book you recently added to your TBR

Thank goodness for Goodreads. I added a bunch lately but one that I am really looking forward to jumping into is Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch.

A book that’s on your TBR strictly because of the cover

Air Awakens by Elise Kova. The cover was just so unique, I didn’t even read the description, i added it straight to my TBR. But now that I know it’s actually a good book, thanks to Jess’s review over at Princessica of Books, I am looking forward to reading it!

A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading

I just looked through and I’d have to say The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting. I don’t know when I added it, or why. So right now it’s on the far far back burner.

An unpublished book on your TBR that you are excited for?

Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi. I’m such a fan of her’s. And this new project of her’s isn’t expected until August of 2016. But I want it NOW!!!

A book on your TBR that everyone has read but you

This is easy. The ENTIRE Throne of Glass series. I know, I know…I live under a rock. 😛

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?

Not too many people recommend books to me, if anything I’m the one recommending. A recent rec though was by one of my critique partners and she highly praised Salt & Storm by Kendall Kulper. One look at the description and I was hooked.

A book on your TBR that you are dying to read?

The final installment to the Shatter Me series, Ignite Me. I NEED to know what happens!!

How many books are on your Goodreads TBR?

I don’t think this is complete by any means. The number is sitting at 108. And growing people…and growing….

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! And since I love a full TBR, what books would you rec to me? Let me know below!

See you next time!

  1. Thanks so much for the tag!

And I can vouch for Snow Like Ashes… If you liked The Song of the Lioness quartet by Tamora Pierce, you’ll love SLA. Meira is an awesome character who lets her heart lead her, sometimes not in the best of directions. Also, the world is really inventive. The way Raasch uses the seasons to build the different countries and their cultures. So much fun. Ice Like Fire is currently staring at me from my bookshelf, but Winter is out so… that needs devouring.

  2. Omg my TBR stresses me out so much! Mainly because the majority of them are classics or adult literature that I bought years and years ago in an attempt to be a sophisticated young adult (I know…). And now my TBR is so daunting because I’m probably not going to read those books anytime soon.

    1. I know! I actually have a really great book that may help you, I’m going to use the methods I’ve been learning this weekend and apply it to my whole house. It’s called “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” by Marie Kondo. Basic concept is if something in your home doesn’t “spark joy” then get rid of it. I have so much clutter in my home so this is a real problem for me and that means a lot of book that are “classics” are going to be leaving this weekend. Yeah, I haven’t read them. And I do sort of feel guilty for having never read them, but I hate the feeling of guilt I get when I look at them too because there is always going to be a book that I want to read over them. Always. It’s taken me both this book and several years for me to accept this for not just my books but for the things I horde in general. I’m a chronic horder of things for sentimental value.

      1. Omg I actually read this book last month! I’ve already thrown out so much stuff but I’m moving house soon, so I think I’ll discard everything in one go like she suggested in the book. I don’t know though… I’ve just kept all those classics around because I know I’ll read them at some stage in my life… since they’re classics. I’ll see if I can go back to doing the whole ‘read a classic a month’ thing I was attempting to do a while ago.

      2. Now way?!? What a small world that we read the same non contemporary non ya fantasy book! Lol! Libraries always have classics, so you can always bank in that (at least here in the us, idk if this is true for your location though).
I really admire Marie’s idea of sparking joy. That concept just sounds so lovely! Lol!

    1. LOL! #rockbuddies

I plan to read through really soon, just blaze through the, what first 4 books, I thinks that’s how many there are right now. Anyway, by bff is visiting soon and she’s a huge fan so I sorta figured it would be cool to fan girl with her while she’s here.

  3. Thanks for sharing! This was such a fun post to read. I guess I live under a rock too. I’ve never even heard of Throne of Glass……..
My TBR is barely contained on one bookshelf! I have a method of going down one shelf at the time, and I tend to spend a good ten minutes staring at each row of books before finally deciding which to read. It’s such a stressful decision! And that doesn’t include all those saved on my Goodreads as well!

    1. OMG YAS!!! I have all these new #weliveunderarock friends! You all are making me feel like 100 times less bad about not reading the series yet!! 😀
OMG, yes! The way you describe looking at your bookshelf, thats how I feel going to the library (don’t even get me started going to a store). I stand there looking at all the books with grabby hands muttering nonsense to myself about how I could read them all if I didn’t sleep.

      1. Glad to lend some relief. I always feel good when I haven’t read a series yet, because it’s something to look forward to.
I’m terrible in a store! I pile books into my arms until they’re ready to fall off then start into the long process of deciding how many of them I can buy without blowing my budget 😉 Sometimes, I wish I could make a career out of reading books 24/7!

  4. Snow Like Ashes was an okay read for me but I hope you enjoy it. I love it’s world with different seasons for each country.
Lol, hopefully your TBR doesn’t balloon outta control like mine.

    1. I haven’t read very much about Snow Like Ashes, I think the cover is cool and my BFF said it is right up my alley with the dual pov. I like this concept of seasons for countries, that’s pretty cool. But I have no idea what the premise is, lol. I’m such a “I want to read that bc…hype..” reader, lol.

And, I totally already feel like my TBR is spinning out of control, >.> I just got into audiobooks though so I’m hoping that’ll help some. *fingers crossed*

      1. Yeah, I agree with you about going into a book blind, it sometimes is a good thing. Also, if you know people rave about it but just have kept yourself from knowing anything about it on purpose so as not to spoil anything also works. I just started the Raven Boys audiobook and I wasn’t sure what I was getting into, but I’m totally into it! 😀

      2. Yep, going in blind prevents me from judging it too harshly.
And I’m glad you like the Raven Boys. I enjoyed it too and I need to start The Dream Thieves soon.

  5. That makes a pair of us in this ever-growing-list-of-TBR social club! Even when I do have a list on Goodreads, I still suck at keeping track of my books to read! Like when I randomly check my list, I’m surprised to find I’ve added this certain book on my TBR lol

OMG I do need to read Norwegian Woods too. It’s also because of CW (I think and other bloggers) who made me want to read it so bad!

    1. HEHEHEHE Murakami should give me an award for promoting his book so much! But seriously Nicolette and Trisha – you guys will love it. :’) It’s just so poignant and beautiful and tragic and a punch in the gut. :’)
