Thanks Trisha Ann @ The Bookgasm for tagging me! I managed to sneak this one in in the nick-of-time. (Haha, get it?! “Nick” of time. It’s almost like “Nic”, which is what some of you call me. Nope, I’m still not funny.)
1.What is your favorite thing about autumn?
I love everything about Autumn. I love the smell. I love the colors of the trees and the cool feeling of the breeze. I also love getting cozy, see my “Fall Time Cozy Book Tag” post for all the details about that. But also, it’s an amazing excuse for me to break out my boots, (knee high and combat), my deep red lipstick that is just not appropriate for any other season and sport wicked eyeliner that also is not typically appropriate for the summer-time, (because in the summer you’re supposed to look sun kissed and easy breezy, and nothing about winged liner says that). I feel comfortable during the colder seasons. Maybe because I like to cover up and during the summer I have to strip down in order to survive the blistering heat and humidity that plagues the South? In any case, we are finally entering the time of year when I get to bundle up with scarves and hats and gloves. When a cup of hot chocolate is no longer just a treat but a necessary mode of survival to run the chill from your bones.
2. What book reminds you of your school days?
The Great Gatsby was required reading in high school. As a 15 year old with a lot of other things on my mind, I didn’t really appreciate it for it’s greatness. I was confused most of the time and the overbearing pressure of “you will need to analyze this as part of your final oral examination, which if you fail you will not get the IB diploma you’ve been working for your entire high school career” certainly did not help either. But as a 21-year-old who was determined to reread the book before seeing the movie (for once) I was finally able to bask in all of its glory and I will forever be a fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald because of it.
3. What cover reminds you of autumn?
Illumine. Just look at all the gorgeous yellows and oranges in that cover!
4. What is your favorite horror or halloween story?
I don’t read horror, so I don’t have one. 😦 I’m a scared-y pants, okay?!
5. What is your favorite horror or halloween film?
Nope. I’m not going there. Adios.
6. What fall book release are you looking forward to?
“Forbidden” by Eve Bunting came out this month and the premise sounds really cool. Honestly though, anything about forbidden love has me in its clutches, I don’t really need to know anything about the plot beyond that. I will forever blame Disney’ s Pocahontas for my obsession with this trope. I will never tire of it. I will always fall for it. It will continue to break my heart.
7. What autumn movie release are you anticipating?
In the Heart of the Sea. The poster is just epic. And, it’s based off a book, which I haven’t read and I will probably never read….Okay. All right. You caught me. It’s got Chris Hemsworth in it. There. I said it.
8. What are the three books you plan to read this autumn?
I always have way too ambitious goals as far as my TBR. And since Fall is officially over on the 21st of December, I will probably not finish all of these. But, in a perfect world where all I did was read all day, I’d like to read/finish: “Assassin’s Blade” (Currently Reading), “The Dream Thieves” and “Miss Peregrines”.
I will not be tagging anyone for the Autumn Book Tag. I know not everyone’s seasons align with the US’s so if you’d like to do this then please, you are 100% welcome to do so!
