Category: Poems & Short Stories

Here you’ll find all the posts that I’ve shared featuring my original short stories and poems. All of these are works in progress that I hope to someday return to and make something more of.

Poem: The Promise

April 14, 2015

This poem is a work in progress. At the time that I drafted it, back when I was a senior at USC, I started with a vague idea of what it may be like for the narrator to see the girl he pines for in love with someone else and I wanted to explore that … More Poem: The Promise

Short Story: The Meeting

March 18, 2015

She smiled politely as she brushed past me, undoubtedly on her way to work—as was I—her perfume lingering in the air before being unceremoniously swept away by a fiendish gust of wind. I glanced behind myself—wishing, hoping perhaps even praying that she would turn as well to give me another smile—it would be another arduous … More Short Story: The Meeting

Poem: In the Eyes of Our Child (Alphabet Poem)

March 7, 2014

Animals are hilarious Books are to be slept with Cats are fun to chase Dogs give sloppy kisses Ears should be checked daily Fun can be found with an empty coffee can Grandparents are special Hurt knees feel better with kisses Ice cream cones should be served for breakfast Jumping can be performed at all … More Poem: In the Eyes of Our Child (Alphabet Poem)

Short Story: American Graffiti

March 7, 2014

First dates always made me nervous, especially blind dates; however, this time I was to be meeting a co-worker’s supposedly very handsome older brother who had just finished grad school. Admittedly, his albeit short bio intrigued me and from a less superficial perspective I felt that, at the very least, we’d have good conversation, being … More Short Story: American Graffiti

Short Story: Sent to the Wrong Printer

February 28, 2014

“I can’t wait to see you,” I typed into my phone and hit ‘send’. She responded immediately, as usual, “I know, me too! I can’t believe it’s only been two weeks since I last saw you, lol, it feels like forever! What time are you getting in?” “I’m leaving right after work, I should land … More Short Story: Sent to the Wrong Printer

Short Story: Mystery Cookie

February 27, 2014

She had been gone for two weeks, but to me it felt like eternity. Every time I’d open the door to our apartment I’d be greeted by her sweater slung over the back of the sofa, her favorite earrings by the sink when I brushed my teeth and the smell of her perfume on the … More Short Story: Mystery Cookie

Short Story: The One That Got Away

February 26, 2014

We were en route to D.C. on the Metro Blue Line; everyone forced to pack in closer to each other than anyone felt reasonably comfortable with. At each station stop a grumble passed through the crowd as we all politely, albeit reluctantly, squished in closer to our neighbors in order to allow the newcomers on … More Short Story: The One That Got Away
